We were thrilled when the opportunity arose to add these additional articles to our first issue.
As you know, Aletheia Today published Issue #1 of AT Magazine (ATM) yesterday (6/1). As a regular reader of TWS, we sent you a link to Issue #1 on Tuesday (5/31). We assumed that this Issue had been ‘put to bed,’ and we wanted to give you a chance to peek at the content ahead of the June 1 publication date.
Unexpectedly, we were able to ‘green light’ two additional articles just in time for the June 1 Issue. I could not be more excited about these last minute additions! First, we’ve added Parshat Emor, a reflection by Rabbi Dr. Jon Kelsen on the 50 days between Pesach and Shavuot. The parallel in the Christian tradition is the 50-day period between Easter and Pentecost, but the scope of Dr. Kelsen’s analysis transcends any particular religious tradition. It is a life lesson for all of us.
Plus, we added Mary Poppins: Sufi Master. One of our hopes for ATM is that it will help to uncover the deeply spiritual themes that are often encoded in artifacts of contemporary, popular culture. We do not separate the sacred from the profane, simply because nothing in itself is profane. Everything is sacred, but sometimes it takes some effort on our part to locate (and liberate) the divine spark within every ‘actual entity,” every event.
